Cherokee County School District is located in Gaffney, South Carolina. We have 1 primary school, 8 elementary schools, 3 middle schools and 2 high school. Reports to Bessie Westmoreland- Assistant Superintendent, Student Services 

Responsibilities

Conduct psychological assessments and interpret results for the purpose of identifying strengths, challenges, and educational needs.

Interpret diagnoses to school personnel, other concerned professionals, parents and students.

Provide consultation to parents, teachers, other school personnel, and community agencies to enhance the learning of students.

Conduct functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans

Participates in MTSS meetings 

Assist the team with suggestions and implementation of pre-referral intervention strategies, and provide recommendations and modifications to assist general education staff in working with special education students in the classroom setting.

Help the team determine when to refer a student for a comprehensive evaluation.

Conduct reevaluation reviews and evaluations as needed.

Work with schools in crisis situations.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent, Student Services

Adhere to the ethical standards and codes of the profession, and to the established rules, regulations, and laws governing special education programs.

Participate in activities that promote professional development and use clinical/educational research to enhance services.

SUMMARY: 

Provide a full range of school psychological services to children ages 0-21, including: screening and assessment, consultation with administration and teachers, function as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to determine the student’s eligibility for special education services, participate in MTSS meetings, complete functional behavior assessments and develops behavior intervention plans.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Master’s or Educational Specialist Degree School Psychology plus internship. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
